Durham Public Library

New Construction

The beautiful Durham Public Library is built around portions of a former stately brick home a beautiful wooded lot. Great efforts were taken to reflect the architecture of the original structure within the new library exterior. Energy efficiency was a keynote of the design and is reflected with the many upgrades to the building shell and interior. Super tight fiberglass windows, airtight insulated walls and ceilings, long lasting fiberglass and brick siding will all contribute to the longevity and efficiency of the building. In slab radiant heat provides patrons with a warm and cozy visit during our harsh NH winters. The interior offers many delightful features including a replica of a gundalow sailing vessel moored alongside the facade of a local shorefront village, comfortable study rooms and reading areas, and a small café area.
